Grifter is thrilled to announce Licorice, a solo exhibition of new works by Portland, OR based artist Howard Fonda.
Howard Fonda is a painter of radiant beings, curiously navigating the periphery of mortal experience. For his exhibition at Grifter, he has produced two new large-scale works in which moments of bliss are stitched together from rainbows, reflecting a languid sense of peaceful contemplation.
Fonda’s viewpoint as narrator exemplifies the notion of a ‘positive outlook’.
Doom and gloom are placed in the shadows; we navigate forward. Hope is refracted through paint as if to say we can break through the walls between us by making, helping, learning and teaching. Fonda’s spontaneous brushwork and infinite color sensibility is masterful and ecstatic, his love for the medium, unabashed and precocious.
